This car was purchased about 10 years ago at an auction held by a “u-store-it”
facility near Jackson, Michigan. It had been in storage for some time but
the owner was delinquent on his rent. At the time it was purchased, it
was on a small two-wheeled trailer that had a 1965 Ontario license plate.
When it was purchased, it had a smaller roll bar and a very crude body
made of sheet metal. Unfortunately, no photos exist of it in this configuration.
The purchaser discarded this bodywork since he didn’t feel it was appropriate.
There is some reason to believe that the car had been used for Solo competition
in the Detroit area.

Preliminary research established that it was made to fit the “Canada Class” specs of the early 60’s. It was initially thought that it might be a P&G Special, but Gordon Green has looked at pictures and said it is not one of his.
As the pictures show, it is RHD. The central section of the body is neatly constructed of square tube. The front and rear suspension consists on Mini sub-frame assemblies, liberally drilled. The front one is empty and the rear one contains an 850 mini with the steering arms locked, but adjustable for toe. The workmanship is good. It was obviously built by somebody with experience and skill. The engine has not been torn down, so I have no idea as to the degree that it has been modified.
One of the more unusual things is the trailer. It is very small. It basically consists of two steel channels that carry the car, a cross member at the front for the tongue and a cross member at about midpoint that carries a Mini rear suspension assembly, giving it a very low ride height of about 6".
If you have any information about the origin or history of this car, or if you have seen it or something like it with bodywork, I’d like to hear from you.
